“By three methods we may learn: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” That thought or submission is credited to Confucius, a Chinese philosopher who lived in the 6th century BC. Confucius’ principles of wisdom align with Chinese tradition and beliefs. ‘’He championed strong family loyalty, and respect of elders by their children; and of husbands by their wives, recommending family as a basis for ideal government. ‘’He espoused the well-known principle called ‘’The Golden Rule’’ — “Do not do unto others what you do not want done to yourself.”  (Wikipedia) Wisdom is strength; a sort of endowment.  It is possible to understudy endowed people of knowledge. It is a virtue that could be gained and developed.

Those who have wisdom turn out to be achievers because they apply the correct principles through reflections.  Those who have succeeded in life usually apply wisdom to excel. One of such people in Nigeria today is a boardroom guru, ELDER FELIX OHIWEREI. In this piece, we bring out some beliefs worth sharing.  In a November 19, 2017 edition of Thisday Newspapers, Elder Felix Ohiwerei spoke about the principle of success and humility; that are intrinsic issues worth copying from the man of God.

SUCCESS DEMANDS HUMILITY; ARROGANCE IS A KILLER: He asserted that: ‘’If you are successful and you are arrogant, destruction is at the door. If you are successful and you are humble, success will lead to another success. Look at the people you know who are successful and arrogant, where are they today? Look at those you know who are successful, humble, and manage their successes in a very humble way; they go from one success to another. ‘’A good example that easily comes to mind is Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He is very successful, humble and meek. ‘’That is why I said that when you are successful, to remain successful, you must be humble. Arrogance is a killer. One of the greatest problems I have noticed in human beings and in their relationships is the factor. ‘’No single tree can make a forest. ‘’No man is successful all by himself. ‘’When you talk of an organisation, success is the result of team-work’’.

THE POSITION YOU HOLD IS IN TRUST FOR GOD: Whenever you are in a position, you should realize that you hold it in trust for God. For God to prosper you there, He expects you to do his will, not your will. The moment I came to that realization, my life changed. If you are a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) today, it is not because you are the best person, but it has pleased God to put you there to do his will, not your will. If you are doing his will and your ways please him, then, you will go from success to success’’

AN EVIDENCE THAT GOD LISTENS & REWARDS OBEDIENCE:  ‘’When I was about to retire, my wife asked me one day at a dinner,  what do you want to do when you retire? I told her I want to be a business consultant but not a briefcase-carrying one moving from office to office, but that I will like to be on about six boards and I will be chairman of about three international companies. ‘’The good lady took it to heart and started praying about it with the children. ‘’The appointments that followed were divinely orchestrated. I didn’t go searching for any of them’’
