PRAYER FOR THE NATION – FRESH PRAYER DIRECTION AND PRAYER WARFARE STRATEGY FOR NIGERIA .. By: Moses Aransiola
This compilation is for the Use of the Nigerian Church, the Intercessory Community and Individual Believers The great Apostle Paul in Timothy 1:18 reminded and admonished Timothy, his ministry protégé and spiritual son of the need to constantly recall and engage the profound prophetic words spoken over his life and ministry’s future at his ordination. I believe Apostle Paul gave this admonition because he from experience knew for certain that Timothy would definitely face certain life and ministry challenges that might overwhelm, confuse and discourage him. So he encouraged Timothy that at such times, he must use those prophetic words as spiritual ammunitions for his prayer warfare – that thou might by them wage a good warfare. Paul believed that Timothy engaging such prophecies in regular prayer warfare would create a positive and successful ministry life for Timothy.
PRAY FOR NIGERIA WITH PAST PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS: In Times Like This I do now believe that the time is now proper for all of God’s intercessors and praying people in Nigeria to seek for and engage the time tested and profound prophetic words that have been variously given over Nigeria in the past 30 to 45 years by very reputable prophets, apostles and priests in different parts of the world. Therefore, as a student and a custodian of prophecies, I have carefully chronicled some of those prophecies over time for such a time like this for our engagement in the ongoing prayer warfare over our national destiny and survival. Having done so much of intercession and repentance over these years, I believe the Church and the intercessory community should now begin to shift to the mode or phase of praying God’s prophecies and promises over the nation into practical performance. Some of those prophecies and the relevant prayers backing them that we have been using in both Nigeria Prays and in our ministry, Gethsemane Prayer Ministries Int’l, are hereby presented for our individual and corporate use. They will serve as a veritable anchor and assurance to our troubled souls as well as providing us with powerful spiritual raw materials for our prayer warfare. This material is without copyright or publishing restrictions. Therefore, it can be and should be circulated as widely as possible. Nigeria shall be saved.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION-2 GOD’S COUNSEL SHALL STAND IN NIGERIA A Chronicle of God’s Prophetic Words About Nigeria in the Past 45 years At independence in 1960, Nigerians were full of optimism about their nation; no one saw anything wrong with the amalgamation of 1914. Chinua Achebe vividly captures this optimism in his book, There was a Country, thus: “The general feeling in the air as independence approached was extra-ordinary, like the building anticipation of the relief of torrential rains after a season of scorching harmattan winds and bush fires. The possibilities for us were endless, at least it seemed so at the time. Nigeria was enveloped by a certain assurance of an unbridled destiny, of an overwhelming excitement about life’s promise, unburdened by any knowledge of providence’s intended destination”. That was Nigeria in 1960. What has gone wrong today with our optimism about a united Nigeria? Could this be associated with the usual euphoria couples experience on the wedding day? Are we now disappointed that this marriage of southern and northern Nigeria has not lived to our expectation? The question I am asking the Ibos, the Yorubas, the Hausas, the Fulanis, the Ijaws, the Ibibios, the Tivs, and the other ethnic groups in Nigeria is: do you still believe in a United Nigeria? Do you believe in One Nigeria or have you lost faith in the marriage?
THE DRY BONES: Before you answer my question, let me help your decision by referring to a Biblical text where God asked a prophet if a hopeless situation could still be remedied. The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
THE SPIRIT OF FAITH: Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army (Ezek 37:1- 10 KJV). In Ezekiel 37, God asked the prophet, who was in a valley of very dry bones, “Son of man, can these bones live?” The prophet being a man of faith did not want to confess in the negative. Therefore, he responded, “O Lord God, thou knowest.” This is the spirit of faith; a man of faith does not speak negative even when the situation is hopeless. When a man of faith is perplexed and does not see any hope ahead, rather than speak negatively, he will leave the initiative to God. Prophet Ezekiel allowed God to determine the outcome of the situation before him. Rather than voice his fears and confused state of mind, he allowed God to answer the question Himself. Prophet Ezekiel replied, “Sovereign Lord, only you can answer that question” (italics mine, GNT). Where does the foregoing biblical background leave all the negative prophecies and prediction about the possible disintegration of Nigeria in 2014, 2015 and 2019? Some people claim they are privy to classified documents legalizing the expiration of Nigeria amalgamation in 2014, while other people are echoing the predictions of international observers about Nigeria disintegrating in 2015 or at worst in 2019. These predictions or prophesies are purely not in the spirit of faith as seen in Prophet Ezekiel’s example. They are the products of minds that have not been cultured in biblical faith and prophesy, and therefore should not be taken seriously.
A UNITED NIGERIA The strength of Nigeria is in its present geographical make up and unity. A big United Nigeria is better than a little Odua Republic, a little Biafra Republic, a little Ogoni Republic, or a little Arewa Republic. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo commented recently, “I count myself lucky. I am better off as a citizen of Nigeria than being a citizen of Republic of Oduduwa.” The size of Nigeria is one of its strengths and one of its problems. Secession or division is not in our best interest, as it will not solve our problems in the long run. Proponents of secession should learn some lessons from post-secession Sudan. The secession of Southern Sudan from Northern Sudan has only succeeded in weakening the two territories. A big united Sudan would still have been better. Two is always better than one. What Nigeria need at this time in history is a ‘United’ Spirit. I mean a united spirit like United States of America and United Kingdom. I am advocating a ‘United States of Nigeria,’ an entity that equitably represents the interest of all ethnic groups involved in its constitution. Such an entity can become an African super power like Britain and America. This is my own dream for Nigeria and I do not intend to wake up from that dream.
THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTIANITY — Fatalism is alien to the Christian faith. Christianity is about redemption, hope, faith, healing, repair, restoration and recovery. The spirit of Christianity seeks redemption and not destruction; it seeks unity and not division; it seeks peace and not anarchy. Therefore, the fatalists and anarchists’ predictions about Nigeria’s disintegration in the nearest future should be largely ignored by Christians. Rather than giving room to the fear of a break up or secession, we should deploy our resources to pray fervently for a peaceful and united Nigeria. More importantly, the Church should adopt prophet Ezekiel’s attitude and actions of faith. The prophet refrained from saying what God did not say. He allowed God to determine the outcome of the unpleasant situation before him. The prophet began to prophesy according to what might negate God’s perspective He aligned himself with the prophetic agenda of God for the situation by simply declaring the counsel of God over the situation. Ezekiel spoke to the situation according to the word of God and the situation began to change positively from stage to stage. Ezekiel continued to declare the counsel of God over the situation until there was complete restoration. At the end, an exceeding great army emerged. A new nation was born.
GOD’S COUNSEL CONCERNING NIGERIA Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: ( Isa. 46:9-10). For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isa. 55:8-11). Interestingly, God has been making known His prophetic agenda for Nigeria to His servants and prophets over the years. These are prophecies made by respected servants of God at different gatherings in different nations of the world. Many of these prophets and intercessors are not even Nigerians, and also many of the prophecies are yet to be fulfilled, but they are the anchor of our faith for sustained prayers for a better and united Nigeria.
IMPORTANCE OF PROPHECIES: These prophecies should constitute our language of faith in creating a strong, stable and united Nigeria. When we are perplexed or discouraged about the trend of wickedness in the nation, these prophecies must be our prophetic response. They are our prophetic telescope to seeing a glorious, strong, prosperous and united Nigeria. Amongst other undocumented prophetic words, thus, the Lord has said about Nigeria: 1. Nigeria is my battle axe and weapon of war. 2. I have given the destiny of this nation to you my people. Nigeria shall be what you desire to make it. 3. Out of this nation shall men and women arise who will be my chosen vessels to bring the nations unto me. 4. I have purposed to bless this nation in abundance. 5. I will endow your men and women with three specific anointings in these last days: • An unusual anointing to minister my word in power. • An unusual anointing for research and discovery in science and technology. • An anointing for making money – business breakthroughs. Everything you do, I shall cause it to prosper. 6. Nigeria shall fulfill my counsel for the black race, the race that has been despised and enslaved. I will show forth my glory on the despised and enslaved. 7. Men shall honour you and seek your friendship. 8. Men shall come from different nations to behold my glory in your midst. 9. Nigeria is a chosen nation in God’s plan. 10. The way America is held in high esteem that every man in the world desires to go there, so shall I make Nigeria. No black man would like to die without visiting Nigeria to see my wonders. 11. I will visit and purify my church in Nigeria, so that she may fulfill my purpose.
12. Late Pa S.G. Elton, an English prophet who lived and died in Nigeria: God showed him a vision in which he saw a great revival engulfing the whole of Nigeria, starting from the southern part of the nation and spreading to all other parts. He thereafter declared, The church of God in Nigeria will not go underground, rather, it will explode. 13. Reinhard Bonnke (during one of his crusades in Nigeria): Watch out for the country called Nigeria, she will teach America the meaning of true Christianity. 14. I will raise my Josephs and Daniels who will know how to build, plant and preserve and conserve and administer in Nigeria. 15. And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end. Thus saith the Lord God; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high. I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him – Ezek. 21:25-27 (Received in 1998). 16. 1983 Brakenhurst Conference Center, Limuru, Kenya: Africa, I can see the face of Jesus on you, His glory and His radiance. Thus saith the Lord to Africa, though you have been called dark up till now, you shall be called dark no longer. For out of you shall come great light that shall shine to the uttermost parts of the earth. 17. 1983 – National Prayer Conference of CSSM: Son of man say to Nigeria; though you have passed through the valley of the shadow of death and shall yet pass through the valley of the shadow of death, thus saith the Lord, you shall not die but you shall live. 18. Thus saith the Lord, Nigeria and Nigerian Christians will be used by the Lord to preach the gospel in the market places of the world in these last days.
19. Late Pa. S.G. Elton spoke prophetically concerning two key African nations, saying that Africa is like a gun pointed down. Its turret and muzzle is South Africa. Its trigger is Nigeria. He said the days will come when Apartheid (then at its peak in South Africa) will be removed from South Africa. In those days, he said the Gun of Africa (Nigeria) would begin to fire for God’s purposes. 20. Robert Liardon saw Jesus weeping over the African continent. In this vision, as the tears of the Lord dropped on Africa, three lights sprang up from three locations in Africa: the little nation of Swaziland in Southern Africa, the East African nation of Uganda, and also from the West African nation of Nigeria. He said as the Lord continued to weep over the continent, these three lights fused into one mighty light that flooded the entire African continent. 21. 1984 – Ibadan Prayer Conference of the CSSM: My Church in this nation is my hope for the continent of Africa. 22. 1986 Meeting of The Prophets On Mount Carmel, Israel: This special meeting was attended by 153 delegates from 40 nations of the world in Israel. As those of us from Africa were being prayed for by the conference leadership, in recognition of the word of the Lord that Africa is the next continent to champion the last days revival, a vision was given by the Lord to one of the delegates from the then eastern Europe. The brother said as we were being prayed for, he saw the continent of Africa catch fire. When the fire got to the West Africa subregion, it became a mighty blaze. 23. 1987 Watchman’s Ministries Prayer Conference in Ibadan: If the church in Nigeria will walk in obedience to Him, the Lord in twelve years time will raise a born again Christian to become the president. This was fulfilled in the coming of President Olusegun Obasanjo as the first born again Christian President of Nigeria exactly 12 years later on May 29, 1999.
24, 1992 – United States of America: Bernard Jordan had a remarkable vision of the West Coast of Africa. He saw a powerful work of intercession commenced on the West Coast of Africa that was conducted to levels that were inconceivable at the time. As a result of this work of intercession, peace and tranquility was restored to the entire West Coast of Africa with attendant economic well-being of the nations there. He then spoke about seeing a mighty revival that started from this West Coast of Africa, which spread to the entire world 25. Pa. S.G. Elton, 1986: “Nigeria will be known for corruption world-wide but the tide will turn and Nigeria will be also known for righteousness worldwide. Many shall take hold of him that is a Nigerian saying; we will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you”. 26. Cindy Jacobs, 2005: “This is a nation I love… In ten years time there will be a great transformation in Nigeria and the nations of the world will be attracted to her…” Many will seek to do business with her… 27. Junior Desouza, 2008: “Nigeria is critical in God’s programme. She must pursue, overcome and recover the nationhood establishing her in her purpose”. 28. 1996 – Arlington, Virginia, USA, ICCC Conference: A white American female delegate called Nigerian delegates together and intimated them about the word which she said the Lord spoke to correct her view of Nigeria as a nation that was forsaken by the Lord. She said the Lord directed her to go read the entire 36th chapter of the book of Ezekiel. He told her that wherever she saw the name Israel in that chapter, she should put the name Nigeria.
I HAVE GIVEN NIGERIA A MISSIONARY SPIRIT: The Lord said that, that way, she would see the full scope of His plan for the nation of Nigeria. 29. 1998 – ICCC Nigeria National Conference: Rohan Smith, a white American delegate to the Conference had a remarkable vision, which he shared thus: I saw a vision of a local African market place. It was looking dinghy, dirty and filthy. Then the vision changed. I saw the market transformed into a new environment. Gold, diamond and precious stones of various types were stacked neatly and well arranged on a table. I saw an oil font springing up from the table. I also saw in this new market environment, neatly dressed people in three distinct groups: Men, Boys and little children. Then I saw trucks full of gold bars moving across the borders of the countries of Africa. I saw a blood stream flowing ahead of the trucks into villages into which the trucks were coming. As the blood stream entered into the villages, it exploded into white light which enveloped the villages. Thus says the Lord, There is a wave of prosperity coming from the Lord into Africa. The objective is for the salvation of the peoples of Africa. Idolatry will be overthrown in Africa as part of this move. Beware however that you do not replace Idolatry with materialism when the release of the wealth comes. 30. 2002 –
CINDY JACOBS: God’s Word to Nigeria through Prophetess Cindy Jacobs, President of Generals of Intercessors in America: The Lord says to Nigeria, I have given you a missionary spirit and I am surely going to change the nations of the earth through you. But now I will give you the anointing to change your nation. I will begin to unravel the corrupt system in Nigeria that men will say it is impossible, but I say with God all things are possible. There is going to be a revival in the universities and this revival will be of a large magnitude, that the revival in the universities will affect the secondary schools and primary schools. The unity of the leaders is coming. It’s going to uproot and dethrone the occult, for I am going to overthrow the occult spirit. And I am going to use Nigerians to heal the rest of Africa. I’m going to use the Nigerians in Russia. I will use you in the Middle East. I’m ready to change many things. I’m ready to expose the occult in the highest level. In next few months, I’m going to begin to tear it down, I’m going to make it shift, and there will be a day when violence shall no longer be heard of in the streets of Nigeria. And it will be one of the safest nations on the face of the earth; says the Lord God. Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: (Isa 46:9-10 KJV).
And finally, our response to all these glorious promises: Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knee (Isa. 66 : 7-12).

GOD HAS BEEN GRACIOUS TO PREVENT ANARCHY IN NIGERIA: The prophecies and predictions of anarchy, war and disintegration by foreign observers might have been fulfilled. But for you, whose name is JEHOVAH SHALOM, Nigerians might have become refuges and wonderers all over the world. We therefore celebrate the creator and ruler of the heavens and the earth, who hearkened to our earnest prayers for peaceful elections and smooth transition of government in year 2015. Blessed be the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever. We therefore now and evermore give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. We give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. We give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psa. 136:1-4). All Shout Halleluyah (3ce).. To be used at both Corporate and Individual Prayer altars Prayer Leader: INTRODUCTION Prophecies are some of God’s weapons of spiritual warfare.God makes prophetic promises to encourage His children’s faith and to activate fervent prayers for their fulfilment • This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare (1 Tim. 1:18). • Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy (Amos 3:7). Every major act of God in the Bible was first preceded by a prophecy or series of prophecies. Prophecy always precedes God’s major acts on earth. Whenever God declares a prophetic word or promise, He also orchestrates certain processes which include prayer for its fulfillment. In fact, biblically speaking, prayer is a major prophecy fulfilment facilitator. God’s operational procedure in human affairs is usually: Prophecy/Promise Z Prayer Z Performance (P-P-P).
GOD’S PROPHETIC COUNSEL FOR NIGERIA Nigeria is generally regarded by the global Church as one of the five “called, chosen nations of destiny”. The others include Israel, the Great Britain, the United States of America, and South Korea. Every nation of destiny is specially configured by God to perform or play certain strategic pre-determinate counsel of God in the world. They are given divine mandates to carry out definite prophetic agenda of God, based on their individual redemptive purposes. To God’s glory, Nigeria has not been left to grope in darkness without any prophetic agenda, mandate or divine direction. Over the past decades, God has repeatedly revealed through His respected servants, prophets and apostles from different nations of the world, His prophetic agenda for Nigeria. This is why it is now the opportuned time for our intercessory response. WHEN THE LORD SPEAKS… God speaks to us as individuals, assemblies, cities, communities or as a nation at different stages of our journey of life. When God speaks, His word to us becomes our compass, roadmap, anchor of the soul, prayer focus and spiritual raw material for prayer warfare. • And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay desolate in the sight of all that passed by. And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited. Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined places, and plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken it, and I will do it. Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them; I will increase them with men like a flock (Ezek. 36:34-37). • This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare (1 Tim. 1:18).
THE COUNSEL OF GOD WILL ALWAYS STAND: When and Where There is a Prophetic Word: 1. God will watch over His word to fulfill it. • Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it (Jer. 1:12). • Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me. Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure (Isa. 46:9-10). 2. There will be an appointed time for prophecy performance/fulfillment. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (Hab. 2:3). 3. Satan can orchestrate a delay of prophecy performance. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words (Dan. 10:12-13). 4. Prolonged unbelief and sin can abort prophecy. • Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed (I Sam. 2:30). • And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them (Jer. 18:9-10). 5. Strong faith, patience and sustain fervent prayers can hasten prophecy fulfilment Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat (2 Pet. 3:11-12).
PRACTICALLY PRAYING NIGERIA INTO HER PROPHETIC DESTINY 01. Prayer Leader: Dear heavenly father, we thank you for sovereignly and mercifully choosing Nigeria to be on the five nations of destiny in the world. All: Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good and His mercies endureth for ever. 02. Prayer Leader: Our father in heaven, thank you for all the gracious, comforting and assuring prophetic words you have spoken concerning Nigeria. All: Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good and His mercies endureth for ever. 03. Prayer Leader: Lord, we thank you because you watch over your word to perform it; and none of your words spoken shall return to you void. All: Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good and His mercies endureth for ever. 04. Prayer Leader: And now heavenly father, we bring to your remembrance for performance some of the gracious words you have declared concerning our nation. We now petition you, O our God, that as other nations of destiny are currently expressing and fulfilling their prophetic and redemptive purposes, cause Nigeria to also enter fully enter into her redemptive destiny. All: Lord, let your counsel stand and let your word prosper in Nigeria. 05. Prayer Leader: Father, you have said: Nigeria is your battle axe and your weapon of war. All: Lord, let your counsel stand and let your word prosper in Nigeria. 06. Prayer Leader: Merciful God, you have said, Nigeria is a chosen nation in your eternal plan and that she shall fulfil your counsel for the black race.
For this reason, O our God, you’ve made her the most populous, the richest and the most evangelized black nation on earth. All: Lord, let your counsel stand and let your word prosper in Nigeria. 07. Prayer Leader: Lord, you have said that men from all races shall come from different nations of the world to behold your glory and wonders in Nigeria. All: Lord, let your counsel stand and let your word be fulfilled in our nation. 08. Prayer Leader: Lord, you said long ago that the way America is held in high global esteem, and all peoples flock there, so shall you also make Nigeria to be a nation of praise and renown on earth. All: Father, let your counsel stand and let your word prosper in our land. 09. Prayer Leader: We call to remembrance that you, Lord, spoke through some foreigners long ago, that Nigeria is the trigger for your end-time revival, while South Africa is the nozzle of the Africa revival gun. All: Father, let your counsel stand and let your word prosper in our land. 10. Prayer Leader: Dear merciful and gracious father, your chosen servant, the renown Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke said long time ago during one of his messages: “watch out for that nation called Nigeria, she will teach the nations the true meaning of Christianity”. All: Abba Father, let your counsel stand, and let your word be fulfilled over Nigeria. 11. Prayer Leader: Ah! Lord God, you spoke though an old English vicar and prophet, Pa S.G Elton, who lived and died in Nigeria that the Church of God in Nigeria will never go underground, instead it will explode. All: We thank thee O Lord for the gradual fulfilment of this word. But now, O Lord perfect your word and work in Nigeria, in Jesus name.
12. Prayer Leader: Lord, very long ago, you spoke again through your servant, the English prophet, that in time to come Nigeria will be known for corruption world-wide, but the days will also come when the tide will turn and Nigeria shall be known for righteousness worldwide. And when those days shall come, many shall take hold of him that is a Nigerian saying “We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you”. All: Abba Father, let your counsel stand, and let your good word speedily come to pass in our nation. 13. Prayer Leader: Dear Father in heaven, we have heard with our ears that you promised in the days to come to raise your own Joseph, Nehemiah and Daniel national leaders who will know how to build, repair, plant, preserve, conserve and govern in Nigeria. All: Lord let your counsel stand and let your word be fulfilled in Nigeria. 14. Prayer Leader: Father, we heard that you spoke through your servant Rohan Smith, a white American delegate to an international conference that there will be a wave of prosperity from the Lord coming to Africa, and the objective of this is for the salvation of the peoples of Africa. You said through him that idolatry will be overthrown in Africa, but the Church in Africa must not replace idolatry with materialism. All: Lord, let your counsel stand and let your word be fulfilled in Africa. 15. Prayer Leader: We remember, O Lord, your word to Nigeria through a white American woman at the International Christian Chamber of Commerce Conference in Arlington, Virginia, USA, that all you promised and prophesied to do for Israel in the 36th chapter of Ezekiel is exactly what you have purposed to do for Nigeria in these last days. All: Lord, let your good word concerning our land be fulfilled in it’s due season, in Jesus name. 16. Prayer Leader: The scriptures say in Proverbs 14:34 that “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”.
The consequences of national sins are enormous according to the Scripture in Jeremiah 5:25, “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you”. We know O God that our sins which are many and varied have contributed in no small measure to our present suffering, reproach and delay in prophecy fulfilment. We now penitently repent and ask you to forgive, cleanse and rid us of all our sins and transgressions. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord. 17. Prayer Leader: Eternal God, we confess and repent before you of the sins or bloodshed, kidnapping, assassination, ritual killings, violence armed robbery, abortion, sexual immorality and sexual perversion, homosexuality, lesbianism, incest, child-marriage, oppression of the poor and general godlessness. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord 18. Prayer Leader: Our God in heaven, we confess and repent on behalf of our leaders, the sins of greed, extortion, covetousness, injustice, selfishness, slothfulness, money politics, stealing, extortion, wastage, tribalism, misappropriation of public funds, robbery, religious intolerance, buck passing, lawlessness, violence, indiscipline, indolence, favouritism, ineptitude, mediocrity, greed, selfishness and godlessness, idolatry, ritual killings, human trafficking and social oppression in the nation. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord. 19.
Prayer Leader: Abba Father! We confess and repent on behalf of the Church of God in this land; we acknowledge the sins of denominational pride, indifference to the plight of the nation, merchandizing of the anointing, false doctrine, disunity, pride, falsehood, distortion of the gospel message, not being the salt and the light of the world, title craze, empire building, hero worship, exploitation, covetousness, witchcraft, spiritual manipulation, prayerlessness, godlessness, narrow mindedness and gross immorality. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord 20. Prayer Leader: We confess and repent on behalf of all Nigerians and the public and private sectors. We confess the sins of extortion, extrajudicial killings, sexual perversion, brutalization of innocent citizens, intimidation of citizens, falsehood, slothfulness, negligence, greed, compromise, sabotage, occultism, lack of patriotism, corruption, dishonesty and wickedness. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord 21. Prayer Leader: Abba Father, behold a nation that is so rich, so blessed, yet the citizens are so poor, miserable and suffering because of the greed, covetousness and wickedness of our rulers and our leaders. All: Forgive us and show us mercy, O Lord 22. Prayer Leader: Do not delay to hear us O Lord God of heaven and the earth. Be quick to forgive, pardon, cleanse, rescue and fulfil your good word to us, so that the bones that are broken may rejoice again in this nation. Let Nigeria be Christ’s blood washed and become whiter than snow. Turn us again to yourself and accept us as your people. Create in us a new heart and renew a right spirit within us. Take away our hearts of stone and give us the heart of flesh. So shall we become a holy people, the delight of the Lord. All: Forgive your people O Lord, and deliver us from all evils. For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. • All now pray corporately for a few minutes ending with the shout of Halleluiah 3 times.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION 5 GETTING GOD TO ACT IN OUR NATION “LET GOD ARISE” To be used at both Corporate and Individual Prayer altars 1. Prayer Leader: INTRODUCTION Every nation or people of destiny under God will have to contend with forces that work in opposition to their God ordained destiny. The enemy seems to have a special dislike for anything birthed by God and nurtured for His glorious purpose. This would appear to be the reason for Moses’ action whenever the Ark of the Covenant set forward to lead God’s people in the wilderness. As the people journeyed with the Ark in front of the procession, Moses’ would shout, “Let God Arise, and His enemies be scattered.” Despite the presence of the Ark, Moses never assumed that God would arise in defense of His people without being invited. This is an important lesson in national praying; God may appear to be ‘asleep’ or watching with arms folded until His people raise a battle cry for His assistance, help or intervention. The situation in the nation Nigeria is at a state when it appears as if our God is ‘asleep’ or uninterested in the deliverance of the nation. It appears as if the nation has been abandoned to the wicked wish and schemes of the evil one. Yet, we know from biblical precedence that repentance and intercession always preceded heavenly intervention. So from the example of Moses above now is the proper time for us as God’s people to raise a battle cry for the deliverance of the nation. Thou shalt arise, [and] have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. (Psalm 102:13).
Let God arise and let His enemies in Nigeria be scattered! ANCHOR SCRIPTURES • And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel (Num 10:35-36). • Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God (Psa. 68:1-2). 2. Prayer Leader: SPECIAL CONFESSIONS AND DECLARATIONS When God arises: • His enemies are scattered. • The earth trembles. • The sea flees. • The mountains and the hills quake and skip like little lambs. • River Jordan is driven back. • The sun and the moon stand still in their habitations. • The nations and kingdoms tremble and bow before Him. • The horse and the rider are thrown into the sea. • The heavens drop down plentiful rain and the dew. • Terror and amazement grip His enemies. • Confusion and commotion send the enemy into disarray. • Beauty is given for ashes, and the oil of joy for mourning. • The earth yields her increase. • Prison doors are opened. • Chains and shackles are broken. • The prisoners and captives are set free. • The victim becomes the victor. • The conquered becomes the conqueror. • Death is swallowed up in victory. • Impossibility becomes possible. • The irreversible is reversed. • The predator (pursuer) himself becomes a prey. • The hungry lions become friendly and harmless. • The fiery furnace becomes air conditioned fire. • Pharaoh and his hosts are drowned in the Red Sea. • Streams appear in the desert. • The desert places blossom as the rose. • Miracle waters gush out of solid rocks. • All creation sing His praises. • He is victorious in battle.
