Therefore, this piece is an informed commentary on the issue of suspension of the plenary that the hon. Members of the House of Representatives planned to commence. The purpose is basically to promote material the well-being of the citizenry.  A serious error of judgment in the management of public affairs might adversely affect the lives and fortunes of millions of people.  The announcement of the decision of hon. Members of the House of Representatives to commence a two-week vacation in order to assist in combating Coronavirus has generated some heat. Viewing Channels Television’s noon telecast two days ago and yesterday morning’s news, it was reported that the Motion to proceed on vacation doesn’t state expressly that the House would advance on the planned vacation. No reaction indicates that a specific date has been fixed. Reasons for the planned vacation: 1. To sensitize their constituents and 2. Allow hon. Members time to examine themselves to be sure they and their family members are free from Coronavirus. With due respect, I wish to state that the latest information about the postponement of the proposed vacation may have calmed frayed nerves. Schools of thought argue that enlarged oversight function might not necessarily be the answer to Nigeria’s current health challenges. If sensitization must be adopted, that falls within the purview of experts in the information management institutions of government coordinated by Minister Lai Mohammed. The National Orientation Agency has offices in all states of the federation, if not in the 774 local government headquarters. They could liaise with information organs of state governments. More importantly, we are in an era of mass communication that could be carried out and coordinated by the central government working in conjunction with States and local governments.  Even at that, information organs must relate perfectly with the Federal & State Ministries of Information and the Federal Ministry of Health to design an effective…
