It is being implemented in phases, to effect attitudinal changes across all strata of the society, in order to promote positive family values and the attainment of desirable goals that are set out in the country’s national plans. Our agenda includes strategically beaming information to Africa and African Diaspora.
This activity is a product of reflections. It is being implemented to bring about attitudinal changes across all strata of the society, in order to promote positive family values and the attainment of desirable goals that are set out in the country’s national plans. We have been on this campaign for over three years because such social development activities must be continuous for long to have the desired impact.
•The activity focuses on the need for an urgent intervention in family values and virtues, at a time that the whole world faces multi-dimensional challenges, including security breaches, and criminal and social vices that are threatening peaceful coexistence and values that were handed down by progenitors.
•This development could be reversed with time.
•We also preach non-discrimination as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution to encourage parents to pay equal attention to both male and female children.
We engage the citizenry and get them to contribute more meaningfully and patriotically to national and international development. Our social intervention campaign strategies suggest preventive, rather than reactive strategies. For over three years, we have worked conscientiously, to contribute to societal reforms. Our fundamental assignment has been to contribute to ongoing efforts at construction a greater Nigeria, and in due course the whole of Africa. This concept of FAMILY VALUES & VALUES is very rational and its likely positive effects very obvious. The importance of the activity is underscored by the fact that:
•In several homes, youths are abused and children are indoctrinated into horrifying activities.
•An analogy is useful here. If all adults who are criminals and law-breakers are eliminated today, what happens to millions of young ones already indoctrinated through exposure to dysfunctional family structures, social marginalization, and poverty?
•Home is the nesting ground for goodness. It is essential in the development and growth process
•Governments; that must provide the enabling environment.
•Parents; Organizations parental responsibilities; Civil Society Organizations and the entire society
•Equally affected are institutions charged with mentoring and parental responsibilities that serve to inculcate in our youths the right values, ethics, and morals in every facet of the society.
•A broad spectrum of the global community with emphasis with on Nigeria, Africa, and indeed, the global community.
•In particular, we focus on parents, government, organizations with parental responsibilities, the civil society, Civil Society Organizations, youths and youth organizations, opinion and community leaders.
THE INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION
The event aligns with the United Nations agenda of promoting family values and women emancipation, ECOWAS peace initiatives and African Union’s 2063 Agenda. It also keys into the UN/UNESCO Agenda that designate Years 2015-2024 as the International Decade of People of African Descent.
We consider the fact that Nigeria occupies a strategic position in the African continent. It is the engine of the economy of West Africa and a motivator of the African Union. Nigeria is also the catalyst of African Renaissance. It should be expected that whatever happens in Nigeria has the tendency of spreading to other African nations, particularly West Africa. And of equal importance is the fact that the event aligns with the United Nations agenda of promoting family values and women emancipation. Therefore we highlight the following:
•Special and warranted efforts are necessary to defend peace in the minds of the populace, highlight efforts at preventing evils of war, hatred and all forms of inequalities and unfairness.
•It is also most desirable for the populace to embrace peaceful solutions, rather than bitterness, confrontation and violence.
•Extend the campaign to West African countries and later; Africa and its Diaspora. For now, Nigerians in the Diaspora read our publications widely
•A recognition event is programmed to honour selected ROLE MODELS whose success stories as SPOUSES could challenge and encourage the younger generation and even older people who are renegades in the society
