Spread the love

Today, we will examine how to succeed in life that is full of thorny paths. Nobody, not even those great prophets are immune to challenges. In fact, the challenges these priests of God face are far greater that those of their congregations; hence Hur and Aaron had to support Biblical Moses by raising his hands up. When they did, Israel prevailed. Exodus 17: 12 records the event as follows: ‘’But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.’’ This is one of the reasons we must NOT fail to pray and support our spiritual leaders.

The Holy Bible is replete with assertions that prove conclusively that only God can help His creature. Let’s go through some Bible passages in order to convince you that God is the only HELPER and without the Lord, no human efforts could succeed. Psalm 118:8 states that: ‘’It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.’’ Micah 7:5 counsels that: ‘’Put no trust in a neighbour; have no confidence in a friend; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms’’. Furthermore, Jeremiah 17:5 states expressly that: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.’’ On its part, Psalm 40:3-4 states expressly that: ‘’God put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. ‘’Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. ‘’Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!’’

And the Psalmist was categorical: “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2) God’s promise that captures all the foregoing is recorded in Isaiah 22 vs 22: ‘’And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.’’ This clearly emphasizes the fact that God has a plan for all human beings and the only plan that will work is that permitted by Him. The Daily Devotional message of March 23, 2018, by Dr. D. K. Olukoya, General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministries is explicit on the role of God as the Source and Provider of Helpers; because nobody, on his or her own effort, is capable of reaching his or her goal in life.

Help is an action given to provide assistance or aid in order to achieve a goal. No one exists in isolation, and if you must fulfil your destiny you need help. Every great man or woman at crucial time received help from somebody somehow to become what they are today. However, the real help that you need is that help that can only come from God, not human being because human being will not help you without God’s permission in the first place (John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven; John 3:27). God shows His supremacy at times by suspending human effort to glorify His name. Most of the people you are approaching may not help you on their own accord, but God can use them if He decides to use them for you. You need to learn how to trust God for help because He is the source of all things. If you do that, you will never experience disappointment.

Have you ever been in a situation when the help you needed came after the task was done and successful? Don’t take it personal. People are mostly drawn towards a ready-made victory than a victory waiting to happen. They probably can’t see the treasure in you and so they feel less motivated or lazy to render any help when you need it most. Jephthah experienced it in a harsher way. The people of Ephraim who should have helped him in the battle planned to burn down his house with him in it (Judges 12:1-4). Such people are not only jealous of the victor,  but are also determined not to let the victor enjoy his victory.

Man finds it easy to fail his fellow, but God is the only One Who never fails. Friends, family and people often turn their back on us when we need them most but God never turns His back on His children. God is your only source and ultimate help. And when those who should have helped you earlier come after you’ve made it, don’t begin to hate, boast or maltreat them. Instead, show them the way of love just as Joseph did to his brothers, so that they would become better people. Don’t see it as an avenue to exert your vengeance on them, think not that they failed to help you out of the ordinary or hatred but because God has not made them your helper, He has simply chosen to use other avenues to help you. Always remember that God is the ultimate source of help. Humans are mere vessels. So beloved, turn your attention to the source and receive supernatural assistance.

When you see God as your only source and ultimate help, the disappointment of men will not worry you.

The God who watches and never tires, will perfect all that concerns you.

  1. My Father, forgive me for all the times I have given man the trust I ought to have given You, in the name of Jesus.
  2. O Lord, open my eyes to see how powerful You are, in the name of Jesus.
  3. In the name of Jesus, I render powerless anything hindering my faith in God.

To be able to appropriate the blessings and promises of God, you must belong to Him.  Therefore, the next thing to do is to take that quality decision NOW, take a step of faith and go to the Bible believing church nearest to you. Ask for the pastor and request to be led to Christ and start confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. You will be taught, if you don’t already know, that we all have responsibility for saving precious lives from going to hell. The Great Commission is the task Jesus Christ directed all to do before departing for Heaven to go sit on the right side of His Father. The task, as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 states that: ‘’Then Jesus came to them and said: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ‘’Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. ‘’And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Please do not procrastinate. Welcome to the body of Christ, by taking the memorable decision of embracing the Eternal Advocate today. Tomorrow might be too long.
