WHEN GOD CALLS YOU
It is important to realize that God calls people for various reasons. Writing in the publication: ‘Great Britain Has Fallen’, Rev. Wale Babatunde, the senior pastor of the World Harvest Christian Centre, London asserts that “when God calls a person, it is such a great privilege! However, with every privilege goes a great responsibility! And this demands great humility! When God elects or appoints a person to carry out a special assignment, it is not because he or she is intrinsically better than those that are called to serve! For example, when God called Israel into a special covenant relationship to be a kingdom of priests, (Exodus 19:6) He was quick to warn them that He did this not because they were better than other nations. In fact, God said they were the least among the nations! This was meant to deflate any inflated ego they might have had.
To qualify to be used by God and be his friend like Father Abraham, we must comply with spiritual principles. “If a man therefore purges himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meant for the Master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2 Timothy 2) The major goal is to make humanity finish well. In the words of Paul the Apostle: “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”. Another applicable portion of the scriptures is 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 which states that: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, thy righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” But how can we all finish well?
Apostle Paul, in one of his writings spoke about the end time as “this know also, that in the last days, perilous times shall come; for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good; traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures, more than lovers of God. Having a form of Godliness; but denying the power thereof; from such turn away”16. Developments cited earlier, and similar occurrences over time, especially the recent past, indicate that the end time is indeed fast approaching. About ten years ago, statistics revealed that 61 per cent of websites on the internet are pornographic sites, which makes them easily available to anyone.
Regrettably, these unusual occurrences have led to increased sexual sins such as rape, homosexuality, lesbianism, masturbation, incest, fornication, adultery, prostitution and lust of the eyes. Sexual sins ruin destinies, result in broken homes; curable and incurable diseases ruin emotions and cause ultimately, eternal death and damnation. It is this hopeless picture of the world that God’s servants of Nigerian origin are attempting to reshape through the preaching of the gospel and standing in the gap like Biblical Moses and other prophets of old did for the children of Israel. The messages of these servants of God have a major plank of “…let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”(Hebrews 12: 1&2.)
Relating his experience in his publication, ‘I Believe in Visions’, Kenneth ErwinHagin said the world has seen and experienced many healings; but will now witness amazing miracles not yet seen before. In a revelation, Jesus Christ told Hagin that: “All the gifts of the Spirit will be in operation in the Church in these last days and the Church will do greater things than what the Early Church did. It will have greater power, signs, and wonders than were recorded in the Acts of the Apostles.” He quoted the Lord as revealing to him the fact that “we have seen and experienced many healings, but we will now behold amazing miracles that have not been seen before”. Jesus continued: “More and more miracles will be performed in the last days which are just ahead, for it is time for the gift of the working of miracles to be more in prominence. We now have entered into the era of the miraculous. “Many of my people will not accept the moving of my Spirit and will turn back and will not be ready to meet me at my coming. Many will be deceived by false prophets and miracles of satanic origin. ‘’But follow the word of God, the Spirit of God, and me and you will not be deceived. I am gathering my own together and I am preparing them, for the time is short.” (Hagin, E. Kenneth: I Believe In Visions).
WHAT IS IT THAT GOD CANNOT DO?
The simple answer is: God cannot lie, and there is absolutelyNOTHING GOD CANNOT DO.Once HE promises, it comes to pass once we keep to our own part of the bargain prayerfully. Delay is no denial when God is involved. Always realize that immediately God promises His children some goodies, Satan and itscohorts start working to ensure that divine promises don’t come to pass. It happened when Jesus Christ was born; and it happened when God pronounced blessings on the people of Israel immediately they left Egypt and the devil started hindering them. The antidote is effective fervent prayers. For instance, an American apostle of healing, Kenneth E. Hagin came into limelight in spite of unimaginable physical constraints in his formative years. God moved miraculously in the life of Hagin, who was born with a deformed heart and what was believed to be an incurable blood disease. At the age of fifteen years, Hagin became paralyzed and confined to his bed. He later got healed miraculously and joined the Voice of Healing Revival in the U.S. with Oral Roberts, Gordon Lindsay and T. L. Osborn.See how God moves! Jesus Christ healedHaginwho later began an itinerant ministry as a Bible teacher and evangelist after an appearance by Jesus. Before he joined the Saints Triumphant in 2003, Hagin made an impact on his generation. The Bible School established by him trained over 40,000 graduates who reside and minister in 52 countries. This is one of the reasons I believe strongly that God’s pact with Nigeria shall come to pass.God says, in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that:‘’If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. We need to really seek the face of God.’’
